RAILWAY SERVANTS' UNION.

SICK BENEFIT SOCIETY. At the 23rd annual' meeting of the "Railway Servants Union Sick Benefit Society Mr H. L. Jackson presided over a good attendance.

The balance-sheet showed the income to be £973 Is Sd, and the expenditure £904 4s 8(1. The sick fund showed income £634 8s lid, expenses £469 19s 7d; death benefit, income £172 14s, expenses £l5B 9s 9d; hospital bed fund, income £63 14s 9d, expenses £63 14s 9d; doctors' fund,- income £Bl 4s 3d, expenses £7B 19s lOd. The gross balance was £641 17s 3d. The year commenced with a total membership of 498, and was closed with 476, a decrease of 22, mainly due to transfers. The following deaths of members and wives of members were recorded:—Mesdames Diffen, Small, and Bennett, Messrs Semple, Hampton, Breeze, Paul, and Bryant. The secretary, Mr H. Chaplin, after 15 years' service, resigned owing to ill-health. It was decided to make Mr Chaplin a suitable presentation. . Messrs Dickson, Robbins, Thin, and Dell were deputed to convey to him the thanks of the Society. It was decided to present long service badges to Mr J. T. Robbins, 21 years sick visitor, and Messrs T. Thin and E. Hill, 20 years on the committee. The following officers were elected:—President, Mr J. Dickson; vice-president, Mr W. Craigie; treasurer, Mr R. J. Colquhoun; secretary, Mr 6. Dell; sick visitor, Mr J. T. Robbins; auditors, Messrs W. Fuller, T. Nelson, and S. Tomblin; trustees, Messrs J. Toomey. J. Kettle, and T. Thin; committee, Messrs H. Jackson. G. Turnbull, E. Hill, T. Thin, Latto, and Gillard; delegates to Hospital Bed Fund Committee, Messrs R. Bultitude and G. Dell.

After the new officers had been installed the chairman. presented Mr H. L. Jackson with the past chairman's badge, and thanked him for the attentive service ho had given the Society.
