ORDERING-OFF OF N.S.W. PLAYER.
NO FURTHER ACTION TAKEN.
(BT CABLE—PRESS ASBOCIATIOH —COPYRIGHT) (AUSTRALIA* AN» CABLB ASSOCIATION.)
LONDON December 6,
The Welsh Bugby Union has decided that publicity is sufficient punishment, and is taking no further action in the case of Ford, the New South Wales player, who was ordered off during the Cardiff match', for questioning the referee's decision.
[An earlier cable stated: —The order-ing-off of Ford, in the Waratah's match with Cardiff, confronts the Welsh Rugby Union with one of the most intricate points ever before them. The Brownlie case is no precedent, because it was the last match of the tour, and the Waratahs have still many fixtures. Furthermore, the Waratahs are under the auspices of the International Board, and in view of the fact that the Cardiff match was not an international one, there is no machinery to deal with the matter. Rules exist to deal with English and Welsh players in similar cir. cumstances, but the position of the Australian player is a problem.]
