COALING CRANE.
HARBOUR BOARD RESCINDS RESOLUTION.
Clause I. of the Harbour Improvement Committee's report to the Lyttelton Harbour Board's meeting yesterday stated that the committee had carefully considered the memorandum of the acting-secretary on October 26th, also the confidential information made available to him in regard to Q waggons for inter-coastal traffic, and recommended that the resolution of March 2nd adopting the engineer's recommendation to purchase a 15 ton coaling crane be rescinded. Mr E. J. Howard, M.P., said that the report made by the railway authorities was a most pessimistic one and he thought it should be made public He had not thought that it was of a confidential nature and he might easily hare brought it up in the House of Representatives. Ho considered that the Board should clear itself by asking the Railway Department's permission to make the report public. It was decided to make snch a request to the Department. The .recommendation was adopted.
