LEVEL CROSSING ACCIDENT

LORRY-DRIVER'S LUCKY ESCAPE

(fBKSS ASSOCIATION TILIOEAH.)

PALMERBTON N., December 7.

Another of the accidents for which the West street railway crossing is becoming notorious occurred at 10 o'clock this morning, when a mixed train from Paekalcariki struck a motor-lorry driven by W. H. Strange. Heavy rain was falling at the time, and the driver of the lorry stated that he neither heard nor saw the oncoming train.

Strange had a remarkable escape from death, remaining in the cab of the motor, which was thrown across the road. The front part, including the driver's seat, was a complete wreck.
