The approximate balance-sheet ot the Royal Show, held in conjunction with the Canterbury A. and P. Association's Metropolitan Show. last month, was submitted at yesterday'R meeting of the General Committee ot the Association. It showed thaj, the balance to credit was £2120 12s sd, as compared with £1790 10s 4d lor the 1925 Uoval Show and of. £917 os 4d for the Metropolitan Show ir. 19^0. Tlw receipts, with those for the 1926 (Metropolitan) and 1925 (Royal) Shows (shillings and pence omitted) were: - 1927. 1926. 1925. The chairman (Mr E. Hay) emphasised the fact that tho balance-sheet was only an approximate one, as all the accounts had not been received. "I think we shall be able to wipe out our overdraft at the bank," Mr Hay added, "when everything is paid, and! have a little over to carry on with." The balance-sheet was received.
RAM AND EWE FAIRS.
CANTERBURY FIXTURES. At yesterday's meeting of the General Committee of the Canterbury A. and P. Association a letter was received from the North Canterbury Stock Auctioneers' Association setting out the dates of the North Canterbury Ewe Fairs-as follows: —Kaikoura, Friday, February 24th i Amberley, Monday, March sth; Hawarden, Thursday, March Bth; Waiau, Tuesday, March 13th; Culverdeji, Thursday, March 15th; Sheffield, Tuesday, March 20th; Oxford, Monday, March 26tli. The Association suggested that the most suitable dates for the ChristChurch ' Ram Fair would be March 22nd and 23rd.
Some members mterjectedl that the dates for the ram fair were too late.
The chairman (Mr E. Hay) said that tho stock auctioneers were anxious to have the matter settled, and he suggested that it should be dealt with straightway instead of being referred to the Sheep Committee". On the motion of Mr J. 6. Herdman, seconded by Mr W. J. Jenkins, it was agreed that the dates for the Christchurch Ram Fair be March 22nd and 23rd.
GOLD FOR ENGLAND.

The shipment of American gold to England began with the announcement of the International Acceptance Bank that, it is sending a million dollars in gold to London.' Tho Butter. Stabilisation Committee has decided to continue the operation of the Paterson scheme for next year.
PRICE OF SOAP. (PBESS ASSOCIATION TELEOBAU.) MASTERTON, December 7. It is reported that tne New Zealaud Soap Manufacturers' Association decided recently to disband. Following on this event wholesale price of soap has been reduced by varying amounts in different parts of the Dominion.
