Destructive Hailstorm. Sydney, December 6. —A hailstorm hi the Wingham district caused extonsiva damage. It destroyed fruit and maize crops, and killed a large nutnber of poultry and pigs. Peace Conference in Hankow. Melbourne, December 6.—The Australian Council of Trade Unions received an invitation from Chinese Labour organisations to send a delegato to the Pan-Pacific Peace Conference at Hankow in January, 1928. Victorian Railways. Melbourne, December G.—The Victorian Railway Commissioners, in a memorandum to the Government, urge that increased freights and fares and a reduction in staff be made operative in tho railways, as the deficit at the end of tho financial year mav amount, to £1,000,000. Solomons Murders. Sydney, December 6. —Advices by wireless from Tulagai state that nine outlaws, with Chief Nolu, wero captured on Thursday, and also fourteen last Saturday. All the rihgleaders have now been apprehended, and in nil over seventy suspects are awaiting examination.
Fire in Jewellery Store. Sydney, December 6.—Fire at Arthur Cocks and Compnny's, jewollery importers, Barrack Btreet, caused damage estimated at £25,000. Swine Fever. Perth, December (l.—An outbreak of sVvine fever 1b reported from Narrogin and other districts. Mrtny areas at# quarantined. Father and Son Drowned. Sydney, December 15.—While bathing at Cudgera Creek, Murwlllumbahj William Cecil, 10, got into difllcultios. Hia father, John Cecil, went to hta assistance, alid both were drowned. The mother and other members of tho family helplessly witnessed the tragedy. Japanese Diplomat Abroad.
