BUSES COLLIDE.
DAMAGES AWARDED

WELLINGTON, December 6
Arising out. of a collision on the Hutt road between two buses, the Eastbourne Borough Council, as the operator of one bus, claimed damages totalling £26 against A. L. Cottrell, the operator of tne other, in the Magistrate's Court to-day. The evidence showed that defendant's driver pulled out from behind a lorry and proceeded to pass as tne other bus was approaching. _ The defence was that plaintiff s driver should have pulled out to the left to give more room and not hugged the bitumen, which he was alleged to ha The d °Magistrate held that defendant's driver showed negligence in attempting to pass the lorry when a bus was approaching. He found for plaintiff because, in the circumstances existing, it iiad not been shown that plaintiff couldl, by the exercise of reasonable care and skill, have avoided defendant's vehicle.
