CRYSTAL PALACE. "The Devil's Saddle" is the big attraction at the Crystal Palace this week. The programme has two films of this nature on the list. Spectacular riding and cowboy feats are part of the furious actions, and there arc some historical Mexican scenes of the Cave and the Ked Rock Canyon in the heart of the Mojave Desert, well known to readers of Zanc Grey's stories. The story concerns Harry Morel,, son of "Chief" Morel, sheriff of Neutral Saddle, who has a run-in with "Gentle" Ladley, the meanest gunman in the south-west.
Ken Maynard acts the part of Ilarry Morel, his dashing displays of horsemanship being exceedingly clever. Kathleen Collins as the girl, does the romantic portion, and Karl Metcalfe portrays Ladley in his best work to date. "The Last Outlaw" is another rollicking Western drama which features" Garry Cooper and Betty Jewell. Cooper has come to the fi'int of the film world as one of the best actors in Western pictures, and each new one shows what a good personality he lias for this class of character. Betty Jewell also gives a strong characterisation of the piirt of Janet Lane. Buddy Hale introduces himself to Janet Lane by rescuing lier from a runaway horse. Thrill after thrill follows one another to a splendid climax. Mention must be made of Chick, taken by Billy Butts, a seven-year-old youngster, who does some clever comedy work, and the wonderhurse flash.
