NATIVE GIRL INJURED.
SERIOUS CHARGE AGAINST SEAFARER.
(PBKSS ISaOaiTIOK TKLZOBAIf.) WELLINGTON, December 6. Alleged to have attempted to murder and to do grievous bodily harm to a native girl named Noo at Rarotonga on November 14th, Gavin John Allan, ship's storekeeper, twenty-three, ap» peared on remand to-day. Chief-Detective' Ward said it would some time before the papers in connexion with the charge could be received in Wellington, but accused had offered voluntarily to go to Rarotonga to face the charge. In these circumstances a remand till to-morrow would be asked for. accused to be placed aboard the Makura when she sailed this afternoon. The remand was made accordingly.
