GOING TO VICTORIA.

REV. HECTOR MACLEAN, DUNEDIN.

[THE PEE S3 Special Service.]

DUNEDIN, December 6.

At a meeting of tho Dunedin Presbytery to-day, the chair of Old Testament Studies at the Theological Hall at Ormond College, Melbourne, was offered to and accepted by the Rev. Hector Mac Lean, of St. Andrew's Church, Duuedin. The Rev. John Kilpatrick presented the call to the Presbytery, and the call was prosecuted on behalf of the Victorian Church by Professor W. Hewitson, who said the loss of Mr Mac Lean was important, as changes would take place in the near future in the New Zealand Church's theological education. They were not very well able to train authoritative men in the work which required specialising- It would be a source of great disappointment that the Victorian Church had moved before the New Zealand Church, and had obtained Mr Mac Lean. The Presbytery decided to relieve Mr Mac Lean of his duties at St. Andrew's on December 31st.
