SUMNER DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL
The Sumner District High School Committee met on Monday. Present: Mr H. M. Williams (chairman), Mrs F. Barber, Messrs G. Harper, R. H. Henley, W. J. Duff, H. D. Bates, J. Browne, F. N. Kerr, and J. E. Tait. It' was decided to award medals and to hold the prize-giving on December 16th, infants in the morning, juniors in the afternoon, and seniors and secondary pupils at night. It was agreed to ask the Mayor and Mayoress (Mr and Mrs W. H. Nicholson), Mr J. McCombs, M.P., and Mrs McCombs, a representative of the Board of Education, and the Hon. Mr Barr to be present. A hearty vote of thanks wa6 accorded to the donors of the silver and gold medals. Mr Bates moved that a public meeting of all sports bodies and councillors be held on Monday next in connexion with the borough picnic, the same to include representatives from Redcliffs. This was agreed to, and Little River was recommended for consideration. The headmaster reported a roll of 365, with an average of 331. Mr and Mrs J. E. Tait offered, as an expression of their deep appreciation of the valuable work done at the dental clinic, to pay the caretaking expenses for one month.
