IN SUMMER TIME.

SCENES THAT ARE BRIGHT.

REVEALED BY PHOTOGRAPHIC ART.

With the weather as it has been during the past few days fears haive been laid aside and most people are hoping with some confidence that there really will be a summer this season. Up till now, of course, they have been making the best of things, and by no means a bad best, as is indicated by the illustrations in the "Weekly Press" this week. /Pictures of a large scale display of lifej-saving by Wellington teams tell a convincing story of summer pleasures. Then there is a line view of a fleet of yachts competing in one of the Christchurch Sailing and Power Boat Club's races —trim craft carrying a great spread of sail and making the most of a summer breeze, fcjome of the northern athletic champions who will be competing in the Dominion championships at Christchurch are shown in action. The atmosphere of the season is caught again in a series of beautiful camera studies obtained a few days ago in the Christchurch Botanic Gardens, roses and rhododendrons being conspicuous among the fine blooms displayed. From many points of view the principal event of the past week was the visit of Mr Amery. The "Weekly Press'' has made a very full record of the functions in which he took part, and the snapshots obtained at the Victoria League's garden party will lie found to be especially interesting. The holiday resort illustrated this week is the Lake Taupo district, which offers a wealth of material for photographic reproduction. Many more subjects are illustrated this week —a great display by girl athletes at Auckland, the visit of an overseas liner to Piteairn Island, the gathering of the Masonic Grand Lodge in Christchurch, the Canterbury Horticultural Society's rose show, and so on.

The "Weekly Press" will be issued to-morrow morning.
