The girl explains that Ilarry is trying to save him, and the. father rides back, arriving just as Harry JB to be hung. He confesses having killed Trommer and Calibers, who had killed his brother thirty years before, and had left him for dead fifteen years ago. This time they had come for him, and he had to shoot. Papago was killed becauso he was a horse thief. Harry is released and goes to the rescue of Concha. She has had a terrible ride with Ladlov, and drugs his horse. Harry arrives as Ladley is beating Concha, and he Bhoots him. Ken Maynard acts the part of Harry Morel, his dashing displays of horsemanship being exceedingly clcvor. Kathleen Col- ?, 8 r l' <l°cs the romantic portion, and Earl iletcalfo portravs Lad lev in his best work to date.
... As t Outlaw" is another rollicking western drama which features Garry Cooper and Betty Jewel. Cooper has come to the lront of the film world as one of the best actors in Western pictures, and each new one shows what a good personality he has tor this class of character. Betty Jewel also gives a strong characterisation of the part of Janet Lane. Buddy Halo introduces himself to Janet Lane by rescuing her from a runaway horse. She is in a great hurry '? S e ,t to town, and leaves Buddy without thanking hin). Buddy takes on the sheriff's .lob in a bandit-ridden town, and it is his job to capture the killer of the man who preceded him in office. Buddy discovers that he is Janet Lane's brother. On the way to the Court he is shot by one of the rustlers, unknown to Buddy, who is told by Janet that she hates him. Tho ranchers dovise means to get thoir cattle back from tho rustlers, and become known as "tho mysterious band." In a terrific fight with revolvers the rustlers are killed and Buddy once more save 3 Janet from being captured by the bandits. Thrill after thrill follows one another to a splendid climax. Mention must be made of Chick, taken by Billy Butts, a seven-year-old youngster, who does some clever comedy work, and the wonderhorse Flash.
. Tho orchestra, under Mr Bunz, played some delightful music, tho chief numbers boing "Filandia" (Sibelius), "Valsc Triste" (Sibelius), "Symphony No. 5" (Tschaikowsky), and the entr'acte.
