YACHTING.

REDCLIFFS RACE. The Christehurch Power Boat and Sailing Club held a B Class race on Saturday afternoon, over the Skylark Island, Avon buoy course. Weather and tide were both favourable. The following are the results: — Sea Imp (hep. 6min), E. Smith .. 1 Rita (2min 13soc), R. Beveridge .. 2 Seagull <sjmin), W. Ayling .. ..3 Omega (SJmin), A. Round . • .. 4 Also started —Alert, Fidget, Romanay, Sun Rav, Dimple. With all conditions favourable an excellent start was made, the scratch boats quickly drawing into the lead. As they pulled away to the Tripod buoy Sea Imp, Seamew, and Omega lined up in an even bunch, and maintained a perfect line for some distance. Possum, however, was first round the Skylark Island buoy, with Omega a good second, but the latter met with bad luck, striking a bank, which held up her running for about ton minutes. 'ln the run down to tho •Tripod buoy Possum further increased her lead, with Sea Imp, Fidget, Seagull, Omega, Rita, and Dimple following. In the second round for Skrlark Island, the order was Possum, Sea Imp, Seagull, Alert, Fidget, and Omega, which formation was maintained till the finish of the race. On time allowance the second yacht, Rita, was one minute behind Sea Imp; Soagull was 15sec behind this, and Omega was another 15sec in the rear. Although fourth, Omega, but for her grounding, might have won with nine minutes to spare. Next week the club will hold an A CUss race over the Heathcotc-Avon course. The Dottrell and Secret have, however, left for Lyttelton to take part in the regatta on Saturdav week, and the Tui will leave during the week. Theso boats will not, therefore, Pa At C presont the following club competitions are in view:'—Commodore's Cup, for juniors; Life Members' Cup; Beanland Cup; Cumminc; Memorial Cup; tho president, Colonel Hobday's Cup, for yachts of the Seamew class. ___
