In the Sheffield Shield match, Victoria versus South Australia, Victoria in their 'first innings havo lost two wickets for 305 (Woodfull 43, Ponsford 183, Hendry 95 not out, Ryder 22 not out). Rain in the morning did not dampen the covered wicket, but the outfield was slow and dead, and a short drizzle in the forenoon made conditions tricky. After a slow start, brilliant and interesting cricket by Ponsford and Hendry for -the second wicket added 164 in quick time, Hendry and Ryder keeping things moving merrily till the rain stopped play for the day at 5.30 p.m.
