FLOWER SHOW.
LEESTON PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. BLOOMS AFFECTED BY WEATHER. The eighteenth annual flower show promoted by the Lceston Presbyterian Church was held on Thursday. The entries were at the average level, but the stormy weather had a detrimental effect upon the quality of some of the. blooms. The cookery and vegetable sections provided the outstanding classes. There was a large attendance of exhibitors and the public in the afternoon, when the show was oflieially opened by Mr J. Cunningham, chairman of the Ellesmere County Council. The Ker. J. C. Young expressed the committee's thanks to all who had contributed to the- success of the show. Mr Cunningham spoke of the value of shows as a means of inculcating a lovo for the beautiful, and congratulated the exhibitors upon their display. A number of stalls were conducted for the sale of flowers, plants, sweets, produce, and sundry articles, and several competitions •wero in progress to add to the funds.
