LIBERTY THEATRE.
"Rookies," a hilarious comedy of army life, is proving a big attraction at the Liberty Theatre this week. Brightly written, the tale is by no means burlesque. It is pure comedy, with moments of quite real drama, notably the balloon scene in which the much sat-upon recruit rises to heroic heights and saveß the life of the girl beloved alike of officer and private. The final scene —a parachute descent from an escaped balloon —showed the blustering sergeant in terror of his life, dropping swiftly to oarth.
