INCOME TAX.
ACRIMONIOUS DEBATE ON FEDERAL BILL. (BI CABLE—PBSSS ASSOCIATION—OOPTRIOHT.) (AUSTRALIAN AJJD N.Z. CABLX ASSOCIATION.) (Received November 30th, 10.50 p.m.) CANBERRA, November 30. In the House of Representatives, after a lengthy and acrimonious debate, Mr Bruce announced that the Government did not intend to press the clause in the Income Tax Assessment Bill exempting companies from paying taxation on dividends paid or due to absentee shareholders.
The clause met with strong opposition both from Labour members and a number of Government supporters.
