ENGINEER ASSAULTED.

(PBESS ASSOCIATIOX VKLEGBAU.) AUCKLAND, November 30. In the Police Court Arthur Hoppar, twenty-eight, a fireman in the Bteamer Tofua, pleaded guilty to assaulting Haughton, the third engineer, on the high seas on November 18th. While much under the influence of liquor, he struck Haughton forcibly, and later was prevented by the second engineer from using a knife on Haughton. Accused was fined £5.
