TRAMWAY BOARD.
MR WOOD ELECTED CHAIRMAN. The Tramway, Board met yesterday afternoon. Present: Messrs John Wood. 3. A. Flesher, G<eo. T. Booth, W. Hayward, W. H. Williamson, - W. J. • Walter, D. Sykes, E. H. Andrews, and Mrs E. E. McCombs. Mr Wood was elected chairman and Mr Flesher deputy-chairman. On the motion of Mr Walter, seconded by Mr Hayward, it was decided to write and thank the retiring members of the Board for their valuable services—-Mr Pearce, 25 years; Mr Taylor and the Hon. Mr Barr, each 12 years; and Mr White, 3 years. NOKTH BEACH LINE. The City Council, as tho licensing authority, wrote suggesting that a conference should be held between representatives of tho Board and of the Inter-City Motor Service regarding the Board's application for a bus Bervjco between North Beach and Wainoni, and to extend the Burwood-Park road eeryice to. the sea. The Mayor and Crs. Beanland-and Sharps were to attend the conference on behalf of the licensing authority. It was proposed that Messrs Wood and Flesher should represent the Board, the general manager also to attend. Mr Hayward said that this opened up a very big question. The chairman suggested that in view of the conference the Board should not show iU hand. It was decided to consider the matter in committee. On resuming, after a lengthy discussion, it was reported that Messrs Wood and Flesher had been appointed to represent the Board at" the conference MATTERS OF KOUTINE. It was -decided that all the members of the Board should constitute tho Works and Traffic Committee. It "was resolved that the Board should meet one Monday and the Works and Traffic Committee the following Monday.
