RICCARTON POLITICS.

TO THX BMTOS 0» THS PBISB. Sir,—ln your issue of to-day "W.D." writes "that instead of reply-ing-to every penny-a-liner, etc," then breaks off without giving the alternative. What- is the alternative? Ignore the penny-a-liners and let them make as ■ many absurd mis-statements as they like. No, Sir, one cannot take everything lying down. About the rubbish collection. I know it looks waste with four men engaged, but it has been tried with two and three, and from the trials four with.a lorry practically on tho move all the time has been found the most economical. The collection costs £7 per week for the whole of Fendalton—collecting in 15 miles or streets and removing and disposing of, roughly, 17 tons of rubbish per week. I thank the Mayor of Riccarton for his views on my attitude and for the information as to what he would do to his Council if they behaved like that. Can he tell me why he bothers to try and find out what the area and valuations are, when, of course, he must know them, since he is merely giving information and correct information at that. —Yours, etc., HENRY KITSON. November 29th.
