RICCARTON HIGH PRESSURE WATER SCHEME.
TO THE FDITOB 0* THE PRESS. Sir,-1 was a very interested listener at the two meetings held in the Riccarton Town Hall on the above subject The ratepayers of the borough owe a debt of gratitude to the gentleman who went to the trouble of arranging the meeting on Monday night, at which those opposed to the scheme were given an opportunity to protest and voice their reasons for doing so. The Mayor and Mr Rankin ">7 vited to come on to the platform and replv to criticism, ajtnking contrast to the attitude of tie Mayor who was chairman at the previous meeting, at which the proposed scheme was propounded. At P thaTmeeting mtiS was practically banned, questions on™ being permitted. It has been said that those who have water and oppose the scheme are selfish. S.r. who are selnsh-those who>vc water and oppose the scheme, of those who, wrf..the owners of rams, and the 243 householders in the borough who have installed electric pumps, to scrap them and support a scheme which is going to cost more than the benefits received axe worth? Ratepayers should not se Si? birthright, but come to the poll and show our extravagant CoSil that it is high time unnecesSVbovrowing e£., November 2&th.
