At a meeting of the Dunedin branch of tho Otago Education Institute tonight, the following resolution -was passed unanimously: That this meeting of the Dunedin branch of the Otago Education Institute protests strongly againsf the proposal to amend the Education Act. in that fines may be inflicted npon teachers for dereliction of dutv Messrs W. F. Abel and T. A. Paterson spoke very teelingly on the subject, and the meeting heartily agreed that such an imposition would be intolerable.
