COUNTY COUNCILS.
KOWAI. Tho monthly meeting of tho Kowoi County Council was held at Balcaim. Present: Crs. J. I). Wyllio, chairman, .T. Fleming, Vv". A. Kclchcr, T. Hanna, I. F. Croft, J. H. James, and <W. H. Hale. The secretary of tho North Canterbury Power Board wrote that the Local Government Loans Board had sanctioned tho loan of £160,300, aud that a proposal to borrow the above sum would bo submitted to ,the ratepayers shortly It was decided that polling booths bo at Amberley, Broomfield, Leithtield, Balcaim, Sefton, and Ashley. ' The chairman reported arranging with Mr Snmuftls, of the Vacuum Oil Co., for the supply of a 500-gallon tank. Tho sign-boards supplied by the Automobile Association- had been erected with tho exception of the one at Gray's road, opposite Brackenfleld, directing the traffic to tho main road. t It was decided to notify tho Association that the Council considered it unnecessary to erect a board on'Gray'B road directing traffic to the main road. . Tho Ashley County Council ivrota asking for the payment of £6 10s towards the Ashley bridge account. Consideration of the matter was deferred pending a detailed account, of the receipts and expenditure for the Ashley bridge, for the past year. The matter of forming and metalling the footpath along A. M. Gray's and H. l. Kidd's frontages was left in tho hands of Cr. Hale and the clerk. It, was decided to inspect willows growing in the drain on Broad road, opposite the Hon. Sir R. Heaton Rhndes's frontage, next Council day.
