♦ KAMENEFF HOWLED DOWN. (BI CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.) ("THE TIMES.") (Received November 23rd, 5.6 p.m.) LONDON, November 22. The correspondent of "The Times" at Riga reports that Kameneff, who is opposed to Stalin, speaking at a Communist conference, was. howled down, blit managed to interject, "Communism is heading for the abyss.'' Stalin's supporters retorted, "The abyss is yawning for you, not for us." When Stalin's supporters shouted down Rakovsky in the presence of foreigners, Rakovsky said to the lat-' ter, "Now you see what democracy exists in Russia." LAUREATE'S UNEASY CROWN. ("TKB TIMES.") (Received November 23rd, 8.25 p.m.) LONDON, November 22. The correspondent of "The Times" at Riga says the struggle between Stalin's Party and the Opposition is intensifying, the former's threats of prison meeting with counter threats of violence. A paper thrown on. the platform at a Communist conference was inscribed: time is coming when we shall hang, strangle, and shoot you Stalinists." The Soviet Poet Laureate, Biedny, complains that the Opposition threaten to murder him unless he refrains from lampooning them.
