LATE MR JUSTICE ALPERS.
FUNERAL YESTERDAY.
The funeral of the late Mr Justice 0. T. J. Alpers, Judge of the Supremo Court, was held yesterday morning, the cortege of mourners being one of tho largest seen in the City for a very long time. The funeral left Canterbury 0-1-lege and proceeded to the Wnimain Cenieterv, where the last rites were conducted by the Rev. H. S. Leach, vicar of Fcndalton. The chiel mourners were Mrs 0. f. COURTS ADJOURNED. The continuation of the trial in connexion with the Burwood murder was scheduled to commence at 10.15 a.m. yesterday. At that hour the Registrar announced that the Court had adjourned until 11.30 a.m. The adjournment was made to enable the Judge, counsel, and officers to attend the funeral of the late Mr Justice Alpers. The same procedure was adopted in the Magistrate's Court. HOSPITAL BOARD'S SYMPATHY. At the monthly meeting of the North Canterbury Hospital Board yesterday, the chairman, Mr F. Horrell, referred to the death of Mr Justice Alpers, and the Board passed a resolution of sympathy with ithe relatives.
