At a meeting of the South Canterbury subscribers to tho St. Saviour's Guild, it was decided to place on record the Guild's appreciation of the work done by Itev. and Mrs L._ A. Knight, at St. Saviour's Orphanage. • Mr and Mrs A. J. Lawrence left Timaru yesterday for their station at Amberley. Recent arrivals at the Grosvenor Hotel include Mr J. Gibson (England), Mr R. A. Finlayson (Auckland), Mr J. Simpson (Dunedin), Mr W. J. McDonald (Dunedin), Mr J. H- Stallard (Christchurch), Mr A. W. Morris (Christchurch), Mr J. H. Pennington (AVellington), Mr D. F. Murio (Dunedin), Mr A. S. Mazey (Christchurch), Mr S. G. Bowron (Christchurch), Mr J. Garton (Christchurch), and Major Row (Christchurch). Recent arrivals at the Hydro Grand Hotel include Mr and Mrs Robinson (Christchurch), Miss Rogers (Christchurch), Miss Robinson (Christchurch), and Mr P. Sealey (Ashburton). Those who returned from the Hernur tage by the Mount Cook Motor Company's bus yesterday, included Mr and Mrs Robinson, Mr Lov«ll (Auckland), and ninety pupils from Wellington College. Recent arrivals at the Dominion Hotel include Mr A. W. Beckford (Christchurch), Mr E. R. Smith (Dunedin), Mr J. E. Talbot (Christchurch), Mr J. Stockwell (Wellington), Mr R. 0. Talbot (Christchurch), Mr G. S. Morrison (Christchurch), Mr J. Armstrong (Christchurch), Mr E. Hanson (Dunedin), and Mr C. Patterson (Dunedin). Recent arrivals at the Empire Hotel include Mr B. Brooks (Christchurch), Mr A. H. Corrick (Christchurch), Mr G. Mearns (Dunedin), Mr F. Sprossen (Christchurch), Mr L. Radburn (Christchurch), Mr G. Baker (Dunedin), and Mr A. S. Philpott (Christchurch). PLUNKET SOCIETY. The monthly meeting of the Christchurch Branch of the Plunket Society was held on November 16th, when there were present: Mrs Cracroft Wilson (in the chair), Mesdames Chilton, Harris, Stevenson, McKillop, Ollivier, Knight, Robertson, Archer, Clark, Garland, H. R. Smith, Thacker, Graham, Bloxam, W'anklyn, Gilmour, Cordner, Boulton, Neville, Fulton, Godby, Hawkins, and Miss Trotter. Apologies were received from Mesdames Aitken, Ingle, Lester, H. D. Acland, Turnbull, Wood (Hawarden), Robertson (Leeston), and Miss Cooke. Mrs Chilton extended a very sincere welcome to Mrs Cracroft Wilson on her return from England, and voiced the pleasure of the committee in seeing her again in the chair. At the wish of Sir Truby King, Nurse Allan gave a short address on the subject of "Karitane Products," which was most interesting. It was decided that Mrs Cracroft Wilson and Mrs Stevenson be appointed trustees for the Savings Bank accounts.

Mrs Cracroft Wilson reported that she had been, asked by Sir Truby King to call a meeting in the near future at which he would address as many Plunket nurses as possible, also presidents and secretaries of all branches from as far south as Oamaru and west to Greymouth. Steps would be taken to call the meeting as soon as Sir Truby had fixed a date, which it was hoped would be early in December.

Mrs McKillop was appointed to tho House Committee of Kantane Hospital, and Mrs Stevenson was elected convener of the Sewing Committee in Mrs Chilton's place. The hospital matron reported nine babies admitte '. nine discharged, and 11 in hospital, four mothers admitted, discharged, and two in hospital. New subscribers for the month included Mesdame Stanley Allan, S. Kidd, G. A. McGregor, G. Hamilton, G. Jones, D. T. Madden. N. Allen, Curtis. J. B. Stevens, F. W. McKay, and J. L. Stevens. Gifts to 'the hospital were received from the Oxford Branch, three crates of eggs (51 do*en),Miss I. Smith two lamp shades, and Mr- Hurdley cushion cover, Miss Donaldson and Miss Sidey babies' singlets. GARDEN PARTY. A .vnry successful garden party was held last Saturday at the residence of Mr and Mrs J. M. Mitchell, Strickland street, Spreydon, in aid of the Sydenham Methodist Church funds. The party was opened by the Mayor and Mayoress, Mr and! Mrs J. K. Archer, who wished the officials every success. The Mayor and Mayoress were then presented with a buttonhole and bouquet by Betty Odel! and Jamie Maddren.

Lively selections were played on the bagpipes by Piper Shirlaw, and a very fine display of Highland dancing was given by Margaret Mcintosh and Con Campbell.

A display of roller-skating and conjuring tricks was given by Mr and Mrs H. Spencer, of Australia. Coconut shies, nail-driving competitions, and tennis matehes were among the numerous pastimes, and were organised by Messrs S. H. Maddren, L. J. Mitchell A Sharp, C. Sayers, and W. H. Holland.
