NEWS VALUE.
. 1 THE TEST OF PICTURES. "WEEKLY PRESS" MEASURES UP TO STANDARD. News value is the quality which appeals most strongly in the illustrations of a weekly paper. And news value is found not only in .the pictures whiel' describe the actual events of the wae*. but also in camera studies of places and people, for any picture that reveals some new thing is news. It is because the illustrations of the "Weekly Press" are particularly rich in news, value that many thousands of eager readers enjoy them every week, and in the issue published to-day they will find remarkably high value. While such outstanding events of the past week as the exhibition cricket match at Lancaster Park, a disastrous fire it Invercargill, and the gathering of thePresbyterian Assembly, are fully de scribed, there are also many line pictures relating to subjects which have been less prominently before the pub lie. The doings at Trentham of sailors from H.M.S. Diomede and H.M.S Dunedin have provided a most enter taining collection of pictures. Tha pleasures of a voyage from New Zealand to England have been illustrated in a quite unusual fashion; the work of the Jubilee Institute for the Blind has been described in a most effective manner, and light has been thrown upon many another unfamiliar subject. . Not only in its illustrations, but also in the reading matter that it prints the "Weekly Press" aims at variety and originality. Its stories, its serious articles by New Zealand writers, its napes full' of valuable information for women, its comments on the problems of farming, its notes for motoristsall its varied features are calculated to convey to its readers the mpression _f or iginalitv and exclusiveness. Each week it makes new friends .because It gives them the service they desire. It \<i flic werklv magazine for every member of the'family. This week every household will find it thoroughly pleasing
