♦ COST TO VARIOUS. GOVERNMENTS. (bt casus—prxss association— copybight.) (atjstrauah and h.z. cablb association.) . LONDON, November 21. In the House of\ Commons the Premier, Mr Baldwin, in answer to questions, stated that for the 6even months ended on October 81st, of the migrants assisted under the Empire Settlement Act 20,000 went to Canada, 16,700 to Australia, and 1700 to New Zealand. The costs to the respective Governments were:— Britain and Canada, £200,000 and £90,000. Britain and Australia., £200,000 each. Britain and New Zealand, £22,500 each. During the past five years 7305 boys, (aged from fourteen to seventeen, had gone, to Canada under the care of voluntary societies.
