* A meeting of the Council of the Canterbury Justices of the Pea?e Association was held last night. The president (Mr A. William?) presided. There were also present—Messrs H. Herbert Smith. C. H. Gilby. F. B. Creswell. Geo. £. Franklin, A. H. Hobbs. If. F. Herbert: F. H. Christian, and J. R. Brunt. A letter from the Registrar of the London Magistrates and Justices' Association was read, acknowledging the receipt of the Canterbury Justices' annual report and balancesheet. " and sending their thanks and congratulations. . . A sub-committee, consisting of Messrs H. H. Smith, C. H. Gilby. and J. R. Brunt, was appointed to revise the rnles. and to report. A vacancy on the Council was filled by the appointment of Mr P. E. Climie.
