OBITUARY.
MR G. PALAIRET. Mr G waiter Palniret, who died at Napier on Sunday, arrived in New Zealand in 1858 in Hie sailing ship Maori, starting life on the station of the late Mr Brittain, in Canterbury. He eventually joined the Government service in Cliriatchureh, working his way up to the position of Deputy Commissioner of Stamps and Joint Stock Companies. He was closely connected with the Christchurch Musical Society, acting in the capacity of conductor, also as organist of St. Michael's and other churches. After retiring from the Government service he moved with his family to Gisborne, where lie interested himself largely in musical matters. His next, move was to Napier, ■where he passed away at the ripe age of 90 years. Mr Palairct is survived bv his widow and a family of six, Mr J. G. Palairet, of Auckland, Mr Charles Palairet. of India. Mr Fred Palairet, of Gisborne, MY Arthur Palairet of Rangiora, Mrs W. Branson, of Napier, and Mrs Mainland Foster, of Gfsborne.
