DANCE RECITALS.

Dance recitals featuring many of tho latest American songs and ballets will be given by Miss Bessie Macdonald and her pupils at the Caledonian Hall on Saturday and Monday nights next. This year's entertainment promises to surpass all previous efforts, and should prove a pleasing departure from anything of this description previously witnessed in Christchurch. . The weeks of constant practice by tho b»llcts are evidenced by the high state of perfection they have attained. Special mention must be made of Miss Macdonald's clevor baby students. In all, there are twelvo tiny totß, whose agos rango from three to six years, who remind us that dancing is a serious art, deserving serious study. An operatic duo will be cleverly executed by two very promising, pupils, Gwen Anson and Emily Turner. In the opening number, forty gorgeously dressed girls and boys will appear, led by Mr W. Toomey, the well-known baritone. To those who have seen Miss Macdonald's recitals several times the nature and variety of her programmes are quite as impressive as her skill. An operatic ballet to the music of Tschaikowsky by sixteen clever dancers will bo one of the features of the recitals, with Kathleen Scrino and Vera Wilkins as soloists. A happy selection has been made of musical numbers. Mr W, Toomey and Mr

P. Hale will bo heard in conjunction with all the ballets. At last year's recitals tho hall was filled to overflowing, and there is every indication of an equally large audience being present on the above dates. The fact that proceods are being givon as usual to such a worthy cause, tho St. Saviour's orphanages funds, should add to tho popularity of the entertainments. Scats may be reserved at The Bristol.
