GUN CLUBS.
* METHVEN. The Methven Gun Olub held a shoot on the Mt. Harding racecourse on Saturday afternoon. There were only two shoots on the programme, and conditions could not have been worse. In the early part of the afternoon a heavy nor'-west wind was blowing, which changed round to the souVwest, when a gale blew, making the birds fly in all directions after leaving the trap. Nevertheless, in spite of this handicap, the results, which are as follows, show comparatively good shooting. The first match was a2l clay bird handicap sweepstake, and was won bv A McLeod. The best scores were:— A A McLeod 112111101112111111121—20 T S Harrison 111111111111120011111—19 H Cromie 101111111002111111111—18 W J Coaksley 112111211202210220111—18 S H Anderson 111010110211012111111—17 L. The outside clubs represented were North Otago, St. Andrews, Pleasant Point, and Hakataramea. Unfortunately a strong wind made good shooting difficult, but in spite of this possibles were registered in all matches. The club championship was won by R. E. Mcllwrick, and the Ainge Challenge Cup by S. P. Hanson, ■who shot extremely well throughout the day. The president's aggregate medal for the season was won by R. Baker with 57 points out of a possible 60, with G. T. Smith runnerup with 53 points. Mr W. Davy, of St. Androws, very capably acted as referee and lmndicapper. The president, Mr E.
