The work of planting out of seedlings, undertaken by the Stat© Forest Service, is now finished. The total area under plantation at Balmoral and Hanmer is about 24,000 acres, and the season gives every indication of being most successful, owing to the recent rains. The majority of seedlings are of the pinus species.
