MACARTHY TRUST.

PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH RESOLUTION. \n overture from the Presbytery of Auckland anent Macarthy Trust grants was taken in committee by the Presbyterian General Assembly. The tenor of this overture being that as the Presbyterian Church had committed itself to the abolition of the liquor traffic, committees should not apply for, or accept grants, from the Macarthy Trust, which derived its funds from the liquor traffic. On comiug out of committee, the following resolution was announced.— "That in view of the distress of conscience caused to many within our Church the Assembly recommends committees not to apply for contributions from the Macarthy Trust and further, that no similar trust shall be a*k*d for grants except by permission of the General. Assembly."— Carried bv a large majority. ,
