OPPERMAN'S SUCCESS. WATSON GETS SECOND PRIZE. (BT CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION— COPYRIGHT.) (AUSTRALIAN AND K.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) (Received November 20th, 5.5 p.m.) MELBOURNE, November 20. The final stage of the Dunlpp Grand Prix road race, Warrnambool to Melbourne, 165 miles, resulted as follows : H. Opperman (Victoria), S hours 14 minutes 59 seconds, 1. H. G. Watson (New Zealand), 8 hours 40 minutes 57 seconds, 2. E. Bainbridge (Victoria), 8 hours 41 minutes 30 seconds, 3, L. Einsidel (Victoria), 8 hours 47 minutes 37 seconds, 4. W. Rennie (New Zealand), 8 hours 59 minutes 39 seconds. 5. New Zealand won the teams' race, and Rennie won the Sealed Handicap Prize. The Colac to Melbourne race, of 100 miles, for amateurs, resulted as follows : K. Foster, 4 hours 47 minutes 3 seconds, 1. E. Lamb, 2. C. A. Maggs, 3. L. G. Lukey (New Zealand) was sixteenth. Thirty-one riders started in the final stage of the Dunlop Grand Prix. Opperman left Warrnambool 45 minutes before Watson, and the others followed according to aggregate of times taken for the previous section. Oppermah's total riding time for 690 i miles was 40 hours 41 minutes 34 seconds, a world's record. Watson finished well, taking the second prize of £IOO. He stated after the race that it was the hardest thing he had done in his life, but was well worth the trip. He averaged a fall and a puncture each day. Watson and Rennie won the teams' race easily taking £6O. Opperman's total prize money was ovef £4OO, and he won the Cup. All the riders were bronzed by the weather.
