Huntingdon, Port Chalmers, January ISth. SHIPPING NOTES. The Cygnet is expected to sail tonight for Kaikotrra and Wellington. The Breeze is to sail this afternoon with targo for Dunedin and Timaru.. The Kennedy is expected here to-morrow from Foxton. She loads for Wellington and Foxton. The Gale arrived yesterday morning from southern ports, and is to sail this afternoon for Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui. The Opihi sailed on Saturday for Port Craig and Dunedin, and at present is due back on Wednesday to 10.-.d for Nelson and Westport. The Calm is an expected arrival on Wednesday from Wellington. She takes in cargo for Bluff, Dunedin, and Timaru. The Kahika, due to-morrow from Dunedin and Timaru, loads for Napier and Gisborne, via Wellington. The Storm was expected last evening from Wangsnui and Picton. She has sheep and wool for discharge, and will then lay up here for overhaul. The Wairau arrived at Lyttelton early on Saturday morning from Blenheim. She is loading for Blenheim, and sails for that port to-day. The Progress arrived yesterday from TiJjaru, and loads to-day for Wellington, New Plymouth, and Waikato. The Waipiata should arrive at Lyttelton on Wednesday from Dunedin and Timaru to load for Auckland. She sails via Wellington*
The Waikouaiti is expected to complete loading here to-day for Sydney, and she is to sail this evening for that port, via Timaru. The Waikawa is due here on Saturday from San Francisco, via Papeete and Dunedin. She discharges here, and then loads for Vancouver and San Francisco.
The Totara is due on Wednesday from Wellington. She loads for New Plymouth, and sails via Wellington. The Manuka left Melbourne at noon on Wednesday for Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton, and Wellington. The vessel is due at Lyttelton on Thursday, and will leave again the same day for Wellington and Melbourne. Cable advice has been received reporting the arrival of the freighter Westmoreland at London oh Thursday from New Zealand. She left Auckland on October 11th.
The Cumberland, en route from Liverpool to New Zealand, is reported to have arrivedat Panama on Wednesday. The A. and A. Line chartered steamer Australind arrived at Wellington early on Thursday evening from New York, via Auckland. She is to leave Wellington to-day for Lyttelton and Dunedin, to unload the remainder of her cargo. The C. and D. Lino steamer Port Curtis arrived at Auckland at 9 a.m. on Thursday from New York, to put out part cargo. The vessel was expected to leave Auckland on Saturday for Napier and Wellington. The 0* and D. Line steamer Port Darwin left Gisborne on Thursday' evening for Wellington. The vessel is to sail from Wellington at noon on Wednesday for Napier to fill up, and will leave the latter port finally on November 29th for London, via Panama. Messrs Geo. H. Scales, Ltd., advise that the steamer Martaban, 6113 tons, has been chartered by them to arrive m New Zealand from Australia to take the December wool berth for Great Britain and the Continent. The steamer Cape Cormorin, due at Napier early this week from Port Arthur (Texas), with, a cargo of petroleum products, is to take the. February loading in New Zealand for Messrs Geo. H. Scales, Ltd. The Canadian Pioneer will leave Lyttelton to-day for Timaru and Dunedin, to complete discharge of her Montreal cargo,> and to load. She is due back at Wellington on Saturday from Dunedin, to load for New York, Boston, and Halifax. The Canadian Pioneer will afterwards proceed to Napier and Auckland, to complete loading, and is to sail finally from Auckland on December 3rd. Under charter to the Melbourne Steamship Company, the steamer William McArthur (Captain J. Queen) arrived at Auckland on Tuesday- evening from Australia to :load timber for Australian ports. She was expected to sail on Friday for Opua to complete her cargo. Specially designed for the Australian coastal trade, the William McArthur was built at' Aberdeen in 1924 for R. W. Miller and Co., her present owners. She is 2393 tons gross, and made the voyage from Newcastle to Auckland in the very creditable time of five days one hour. This is her first visit to Auckland.
