RIFLE SHOOTING.

SUCCESSFUL MEETING AT BEDCLIFFS. Tho annual rifle meeting of the combined defence area* 10 "A" (Cliristchurch) and 10 '•B" (North Canterbury) was held at the Eedcliff3 range on Saturday, there being record entries in every class. The weather was perfect till the late afternoon, when heavy rain prevented the firing of the Lewis gun match. Some excellent shootin<j was witnessed, particularly by Corporal C. G. Sandford, who won the grand aggregate. The meeting was divided into three series, "A" for Territorials, Reservists and Senior Cadets, "B" for Senior Cadets under 17 years of age, and "C" for Lewis and Tickers gun teams from both cadets and territorials. - Those in charge of the meeting were Captain M. A. Stedman, Captain L. G. Brown, Captain W. Murphy, and Captain K J Walker. Those watching he shooting f included Colonel-Commandant M. M. G-ard'nex and L-ieut.-Colonel N. W. B. B. Thorns, the former presenting the prizes later in the afternoon.
