MOTOR-CYCLING.
♦ HILL-CLIMB. CONTEST FOR MOTOR-CYCLES. The Christchurch Motor Club held a hill climb at Happy Valley, Halswell, on Saturday. There was a large attendance of spectators, but the entries were small. Results were: — 350 c.c. CLASS. J. Coventry (A.J.S.), 13 l-ssec . - 1 T. McLeary (8.5.A.), S. Freddy (A.J.S.), and F. Ward (A.J.S.) failed to climb. 500 c.c. CLASS. A. Sirett (Norton) 9sec .. .. 1 C. Burford (A.J.S.) 9 3-ssee . . . . 2 J.Carter (Triumph), Usee .. ..3 Pike (Norton), 11 l-ssec, and Gr. Shaman, 15 2-ssec, also competed. UNLIMITED CLASS. E. Sirett (Norton), 9 3-sscc .. •• 3 0. Burford (A.J.S.) 10 1-ssec •• 2 J. Carter (Triumph), 11 l-ssec .. o RELIABILITY TRIAL. On Saturday afternoon members of the Pioneer Sports Club held a social reliability trial, for solo and side-car nfachines, starting from the clubhouse. The course was through Sumner, Lyttelton, Governor's Bay, to Dyer's Pass. At the Sign, of the Kiwi the competitors were the guests of Mr C. Bell at afternoon tea. . . The following were successful in obtaining certificates: —E. Burmeistor, G. Henderson, E. Velvin, C. G. Green, and L. Monckman. The whole party rode to time, three checks being made. ~ A speed judging contest was held for ladies at th» Kiwi, for a prize given by Mr C. Bell, Mrs Inglis being the winner.
