COUNTY COUNCIL OBJECTS
The Heathcote County Council, at last night's meeting, considered a letter from the City Council setting out the business to come before Monday night's meeting of the Council sitting a 3. the licensing authority: G. Lowis's application to run a 15passenger motor-bus via Hackthorne road to Governor's Bay: It was decided to oppose this application on the grounds of public safety. Cr. W. Scarff said that even if the road under the county's control was all right, the road on the other side of the hill was a death-trap for a bus of that size. Tramway Board's application for a service between North Beach and City, via Wainoni road; and Inter-City Motor Service for two extra buses: It was decided to oppose both these applications on the grounds that the road could not stand the extra traffic, and that opposition buses would result in speeding. Cr. Scarff was appointed to represent the county at the sitting of the licensing authority.
