WAIMATE.

RUGBY SUB-UNION. In connexion with the presentation of the shields, cups, and trophies won in the Rugby Union's competition's throughout the season, which will take place on December 4th, the Union have decided to hold a sports meeting on that date, at which a tug-of-war competition will be held for prizes totalling £l2 10s.- Other novel events will also be staged, and the Management Committee is now at work preparing for the fixture. School Concert. The annual concert held in aid, of the funds of the Waimate District High School proved most successful, about £4O being cleared. Items were given as follows: Songs, Messrs Geo. Cordner, Alan Shrimpton, H. C. Foster, Mrs Templeton, Miss Tew, and Miss Buchanan; elocutionary items, Miss Alice Meredith; piano-accordion selections, Mr F. J. Heise; farcical sketch, by Messrs E. Travers and D. Newall; and, comedy items by Messrs B. Nelson and G. Carter. The accompanists were Miss Gay Reeve and Mrs A. G. Pitts. Motor-Cycling. Twenty-five Dunedin motor-cyclists are to arrive in Waimate this evening and will camp at Victoria Park. Tomorrow members of the North Otago and South Canterbury motor-cycling clubs will arrive,. and in conjunction with the Dunedin visitors will visit Waimate's picnic resort known as Kelcy's Bush. Personal. Miss C. Keane,- of High street, is visiting Christchurch. Mrs W. D. Paterson has returned to Waimate from the Bouth, after attending the 61st anniversary of the Kaitangata School. | Constable Whatman, of Little River, is visiting relatives in Waimate.
