CHURCH SERVICES BY RADIO.
PRESBYTERIANS INTERESTED. A proposal to broadcast church services was put before the Presbyterian General Assembly last night. The Rev. W. McLean stated that a committee representing various denominations had waited on the Broadcasting Company with regard to the broadcasting of church services. They were received with great courtesy by the manager (Mr Harris), who placed a great deal of information at their disposal Mr McLean said that the authorities must ask themselves if the services were dtesirable. Be considered that they were. It was thought that broadcasting might affect the attendances at services, but it would enable a large number of people to be reached who did not now enter the Church of God. ' The company had offered to broadcast every Sunday an evening service or a studio service, such as was popular iu Britain. Children s afternoon and morning services would also be given, also musical and special services. Each Church would receive its turn in being broadcast, irrespective of its numerical strength. Ihe Anglicans in Auckland were moving in the matter of broadcasting and had decided to erect a radio station at a cost of £BOOO. He trusted, however, that broadcasting would have no adverse effect on the worship of God The Rev D. Morrison Sutherland stated that while the Auckland Anglicans were anxious to go ahead with a. station of their own they were at the same time willing to co-operate with other denominations. s The Revs. T. W. Armour. T. Paterson. W. Bower Black, I*. L, D. \\ebster and the speaker were appointed by a committee to go into the matter.
