COAL INDUSTRY.
ANOTHER CENSURE MOTION IN COMMONS,
(BT CABLE—PBESS ASSOCIATION— COPTHIGHT.) (AUSTRALIAN USD N.Z. AND SON CABLB.) LONDON, November 17.
In the House of Commons, Mr MacDonald asked whether, in view of the grave importance of the position of the coal industry, Mr Baldwin would take an early opportunity of making a statement on the subject. Mr Baldwin replied that the Government's position in respect to the coal industry would have been fully explained yesterday by Sir P. Cunliffe-Lister, but for the unfortunate incident which then occurred. In the circumstances he could not promise a further opportunity for discussion of the subject.
Mr MacDouald then gave notice of motion pro testing, that on the coal industry motion, involving censure of the Government, the Prime Minister had deliberately evadied any defence, or explanation.
MR MACDONALD INTERVIEWED
(AUSTRALIAN A>"D N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) (Received November 18th, 8.25 p.m.) LONDON, November 18. Mr Mac Donald, in an interview, stated: "The simple question is: 'Will the Prime Minister speak on the coal situation.' We are willing to come *to an accommodation, but we must have a discussion. I have never previously supported anything in the nature of a row in the House of Commons, but Wednesday's demonstration, in my view, was justifiable." -
