MEETING OF BOARD. The Victory Park. Board met lilt night Present: Messrs W. Simpson (eh&irman),C. P. Agar, 0. S. Thompson, R. B. Ward, W. H. Winsor, A. McPhail, H. H. Wauehop, J, K. Moloney, 0. S. McCully, and 3. 0. McGillivruy (secretary). The chairman welcomed Mr Thompson, • new member of the Board. The Suburban Cricket Association applied for a wicket on tie Park for the subAssociation match, on 16th and 17th. The request had been granted, but owing to unfavourable weather, the match had been postponed till next week. Mr A. Thompson, sports master, ' Ohristchurch' West District High School, wrote in appreciation of the Board's action in granting use of the oval at such a nominal {«• for the inter-secondary school sports on the 2nd of this month. The Park would not be required, the Secondary Schools' Headmasters' Committee having decided not to permit the meeting to take placo on a public park. The letter was received. 1 ' The secretary of the Canterbury Centre N.Z. Amateur Athletie Association, wrote *" with reference to the Increased fee for the use of the Park, that the fee was not paid by tho Centre but by the 1 athletio clubs which promoted a series of evening meetings which were 4*nn purely in the interests of the competitors, and invariably resulted in financial loss. The runners contributed additional revenue individually fa the form of 5s training fee, for which they received no benefits other than access to the grounds. It was hoped that the Board would reconsider its decision. The letter was received. It was decided to tar-seal a portion of the bank as an experiment. The'financial statement showed a. balance to' credit ofi £4lO. The following were appointed the Ground Committee:—Messrs Ward, HcPhail, end Winsor. Mr Ward was appointed chairmai of the committee till HsTeh Ist next. It was decided that in future the chai* man of the Board be elected at the fir* meeting after the annual meeting. On Mr Agar's motion it was decided thai daring the operation of snmmer time. th< Board should meet at 8 p.m.
