ASHLEY RIVER TRUST.

AMENDING LEGISLATION. [THE PBESS Special Service.] WELLINGTON, November 1". The Ashley River Improvement Amendment Bill was introduced in the House of Representatives to-day by the Minister for Public Works. The Bill provides for the constitution of an Ashley River Trust district as described in a schedule attached. Tho schedule of the principal Act of 1925 is to be repealed. The Trust district is to be- divided into three subdivisions — Rangiora County, Rangiora Borough, and Kowai-Ashley. Three members are to be appointed by tho Rangiora County and two by each of the others. The Commissioners elected shall come into office on the date of their election and shall hold office until the next general election of Commissioners to be held pursuant to Section 27 of the River Boards Act, 1908. The Commissioners at present in office are to remain in office until new Commissioners are elected.
