— NORTH CANTERBURY CLUB. twenty-five members attended the annual meeting of the North Canterbury Amateur Saimming Club on Wednesday evening. The president, Mr Walter Johnson, occupied the chair. In the annual report the committee conEmulated the members on the fact that the first year of the club'a existence had proved successful. The high hopes ot the committee In that direction had been fully realised despite adverse weather conditions in the early part of the season. of the season was celebrated by a social and dance, when the trophies won during the season were presented. The Borough Council greatly assisted the club by giving the use of the bath at a low rental, and attending to the weekly cleaning and filling of the bath, for which the hearty appreciation and thanks for the committee were recorded. The report concluded by expressing thanks to Air A. B. Johnson for the use of a room for committee meetings, to the donors of trophies, and to all who had generously and ably assisted in making the club's season such a success. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £l2 17s lOd, the receipts for the year having been £43 19s Id, and the expenditure £3O Is 3d. 4 The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Two new members were elected and- two resignations were received. Officers were elected as follows:—Patron, Dr. T. A. Wi.ll; president, Mr W. Johnson; vice-presidents, Messrs H. J. Gulliver, A. Shankland, L. W. Harley, D. B. Blake, and B. Mcintosh: club captain, Mr D. Blake; vice-captain, Mr W. 0. McCracken; secretary and treasurer, Mr D. H. Garrett; auditor, Mr P. G. Tolmie; handicappers, Mr W. Johnson (men), and Miss E. Wilson (ladies); committee, Misses E. Wilson, J. Parsons, and D. Payne, Messrs H. L. Kinley, and B. B. Lane. It was decided that the subscriptions should remain as previously fixed. As the use of the bath had not been definitely obtained, the opening day was left to the committee to fix. NEW AUSTRALIAN RECORD. BRISBANE. November 17. Greer swam 100 metres in 63sec, creating a new Australian record for lbs distance.
