THE TIN HARE.

♦ METHODISTS' DISAPPROVAL. [THE PRESS Special Service.] AUCKLAND, November 17. The Methodist Synod expressed itself this morning on the subject of mechanical hare racing. The Rev. A. B. Chappell intimated that, in conformity with the views expressed by the Ministers' Fraternal, in Auckland, and with the concurrence -of the district Young Men's Bible Class Union, he desired to move a resolution which would, doubtless be so acceptable to the Synod as not to call for debate. He 'moved: "That, believing wholesome recreation to have a high value for life, and to be essential to the adequate development of young people, the Synod is impressed with the duty of guarding pastimes from the invasions of spurious sport and facilities for gambling, and, therefore, views with concern the efforts being made to introduce into the Dominion greyhound coursing with mechanical hares, and deprecates the part being taken in these efforts by some men in prominent public positions." The resolution was carried unanimously.
