UNDERWORLD VENDETTA.
MURDER CHARGES WITHDRAWN (BY 'CABLE—PEESS ASSOCIATION—COPXKMHT.) (AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z CABLE ASSOCIATION.) MELBOURNE, November 17, Thg police have withdrawn their charges against the four men arreste-d in connexion with the deaths of the gangsters, Squizzy Jaylor and Snowy Cutmore. [Leslie Taylor end John Cutmore were two of the most notorious criminals in the Melbourne underworld. Their deaths were the sequel to a vendetta that had been in existence for years. On the night of October 27th Taylor and two other men drove to Cutmore's house. They walked into the room where Cutmore lay sick, and, without speaking, one of them fired point-blank at Cutmore. He returned the fire, and for a few minutes a vicious revolver duel was fought. Mrs Cutmore, who rushed to the room, received a bullet in the shoulder. When the police arrived Cutmore was dead and his mother unconscious. Taylor died as he was being driven to the hospital.]
