PIGEON FLYING.
CANTERBURY CLUB. On Saturday ilr A. Burney, stationmaster at Kaitoke, Liberated 150 race pigeons lor the Canterbury Pigeon Flying Club. Favourable conditions assisted the birds.to establish fa6t times. The winning bird, owned by Mr H. A. Pearson, created a club record in covering tho 220 odd miles in 4 hours 47 minutes 46 seconds. The following is the result of the race:—H. A. Pearson's Sentinel, 1366 yds per min.; G. Robertson's No. 694, 1238 yds; A. Gerard's No. 11, 1237 yds; K. Moore's Majestic, 1233yd8; L. Wilshire's No. 0225, 1228 yds; S. Mallard's unrung, 1228 yds; D. McKillop's No. 635, 1224 yds; W. Puddle's No. 158, 1223 yds; A. Higgs's No. 442, 1222 yds; C. Woodhouse's Ladv Starling. 1221 yds; P. Chambers's No. 19, 1221 yds; D. Cunningham's No. 188, 1220 yds; A. Jones's No. 97, 1219 yds; J. Belworthy's First Shot, 1205 yds; V. Kingsford's No. 43, 1203yd6: O."" Hanson's No. 758, M96vds; H. Winners of, Western Section: —H. A. Pear' son, A. Gerard, R. Moore. Mr H. A. Pear' son wins the nominated bird priic.
Winners of Eastern Section:—G. Robertson. S. Mallard, and A. Higgs. The club also conducted a race from Feilding the same day. Mr A. Malcolmson liberated over 100 birds, with ideal conditions for flying, and a very close race resulted. The winning bird, owned by Mr A. C. Gerard, covered the 275 miles- in 6 hours 32 minutes 1 second. The following is tho result: —A. C. Gerard's No. 258, 1223 yds per min.; J. Belworthy's Lady Manto, 1222 yds 2ft lOin; H.
