NEW QUARTERS.

ARBITRATION COURT. AN £II,OOO BUILDING. Designed to supply much-needed accommodation for the Arbitration Court, the extensions to the Justice Department Block in Wellington, between Lambton quay and Whitmore street and Stout street, are now well under way. The new building is to be of two storeys, and the contract price is about £II,OOO. The whole of the lower floor will be occupied by the Arbitration Court; the tipper floor will be taken over by the Justice Department for extensions to its existing offices on Lambton quay; the lower floor has as its centre a large chamber, 40 feet by 25 feet, which is to serve as the Court room. Along the Government Buildings side of the new structure are rooms for the Juuge of the Court and his associate members and i library. Beside these is the entrance, a vestibule which is to 1 ve a dado and skirting of the best quality Takaka marble in dove grey and black. Beyond the Courtroom are two antechambers, heating chambers, etc. The building has been designed to fit in with the architecture of the Justice Department's Lambton quay front. Provision is being made in the foundations for the addition of an extra storey at a later date, and in the plans the necessary arrangements have been made to enable the building to be extended on the Supreme Court side. Ultimately the whole block will be devoted to high buildings, housing various Departments of Justice. It is anticipated that the new building will be completed by the end of May. The work is being done for the Public Works Department by contract.
